I hadn’t met Gabby and Jonathan before the wedding day. I usually have a few phone conversations and we communicate via email regarding all the logistics of the day. I have to say that from the first minute I met them both, I felt the love. I already had a hunch they were going to be the most sweet and easy going people, but man, they take it to the next level.

If you’ve been around here before, you know I’m a sucker for love stories… and getting to know couples before the wedding day is super important for me, so I ask some questions and I want to share some of what Jonathan had to say about Gabby and their love story…

        How did you meet?

We met in college through mutual friends. It was a few weeks before Gabby left to study abroad. We were just friends but realized there might be more when we both started crying before she left. When Gabby was in Spain, we talked pretty much every day. When she was back, we hung out all the time. Right before I moved to NYC, things finally sparked and we’ve been together ever since. I’m pretty sure all our friends knew we were dating before we were, but better late than never!

Tell me more about your love story

Our first date was emblematic of our whole relationship – having fun surrounded by our best friends. Whenever I am around Gabby, I am a better version of myself. She makes laughing, relaxing, and just breathing easier. It is just… effortless. I feel like a rock in a stream, constantly shaped and smoothed by her love. When she is gone, I feel like a part of me is missing too. I felt it then and I feel it every day. I am most excited to be able to look through her lens on life every day. She makes me understand the world better and keeps me grounded when I am spinning out. I’m just grateful to be able to have that for the rest of my life.

        How did the proposal happen?

We had just moved and Gabby’s parents were coming to town that night to see our new apartment. I knew how important it was for her family to be there when we got engaged, and while an in-transition apartment isn’t the most romantic venue, I tried to make it work. Before Gabby got home I tried to unpack all the remaining boxes (and hide the rest.) When she got home she remarked how nice the apartment looked to which I replied “We just have one box left to open.” and got down on one knee.

Their wedding ceremony and reception took place in one of my favorite places around New York, a beautiful little place called Bloominghill Farm. The night was filled with so much love, dancing and donuts, and the party ended with a big giant group hug… if that doesn’t tell you how amazing this celebration was…. well, there’s a bunch of photos for proof! Hope you love these photos as much as I loved being there.
