Dylan and I had just embarked on a 2-week road trip starting in Seattle to Colorado. It was perfect timing because I had just graduated from grad school and Dylan had finished his first year as a Firefighter. This trip was also a celebration of our 10th anniversary together so we had lots to celebrate. But this celebration almost didn’t happen. The weekend before we left, a hurricane came and hit Miami, shutting down the airport and canceling flights. Dylan was working thru the storm, and we were not sure if he would be mandated to stay in Hollywood and assist after the hurricane. But the stars aligned and the weather cooperated, and we were lucky to depart for our trip. We went hiking in Mt. Rainer National Park as we both love to be on the trails, and on the most beautiful day in Washington in a section of the park literally named “Paradise”, Dylan popped the question! There we were, on a trail with the glorious peak in our background, crying and hugging that we were about to spend the rest of our lives together forever. And the best part of the proposal was being unplugged from cell service and wifi for a full 24 hours, letting us celebrate this intimate moment in the mountains to ourselves over a campfire.
