Summer, it’s everybody’s favorite time of year and with good reason. The weather’s always perfect, blue skies and sunshine. Everybody’s in a great mood, the kids are out of school, the drinks are crisp, sundresses, fruit, flowers, happiness. Summer equals happiness and what better time to celebrate your love than on a perfect summer’s day? That said, summer weddings allow us freedoms that we may not necessarily have during the rest of the year, as well as summer style that only lends itself to the warmth of the season. Stay with us as we happily go through all the things that summer weddings have to offer.
Summer gives you the freedom to go lighter on fabrics. Think airy cotton or blowing-in-the-wind chiffon. You can bring all the drama, without suffering under layers and layers of material. Another great perk is the option to have an open back dress, now maybe it’s just me, but there’s nothing I love more than an open back dress. Nothing. And summer allows just that. The most important thing to remember when it comes to your summer style, keep it light. Keep it airy, keep it flowy.
Orchids, lilies, roses, daisies. Just typing that made me smile. Nothing is more beautiful than fresh flowers. So when summer rolls around, the world is blessed with the greatest selection of one of nature’s best gifts. The key thing here is to keep it local. Go to your florist and see what’s in season and take it from there. You’ll save loads and you’ll get wonderful quality.
It’s time to channel your inner Khaleesi because nothing says summer like summer hair. Loose, romantic braids, loose romantic curls, floral headbands…yes! Summer hair is all about freedom intermingled with romanticism. Let it loose, and add some detail in the form of a braid to really pull it together. Aim for that ‘I woke up like this’ look. And of course, don’t forget to actually take care of your hair, and ensure that regardless of the style, your strands will stay moisturized from root to tip.
Summer weddings are all about pushing the envelope with your choice of venue, or at least, being able to. Think beach weddings, park weddings, backyard weddings. Romantic, boho-esque, and if done right, very affordable but certainly memorable. For the free at heart, this is the season to explore and truly create the wedding that is most you.
During this season the drinks are bright! Whatever your drink is, make it fun. Step one, add color. Think red, or orange, yellow? Step two, add a standout feature. Perhaps a rose petal, that matches your center pieces? This is a great way to create a theme that echoes throughout the event. Or maybe add some in season fruit for a pop of color and taste. Step three, add lots of alcohol! This is a wedding people…help your loved ones let loose as you all sip deep and toast to your love and, of course, the summer.
We’re more than halfway through, but there’s still plenty of summer left to enjoy. Don’t waste a second of it.
See you next time!
